Quote
"Seymour said that all we do our whole lives is go from one piece of holy ground to the next."
- J.D. Salinger
My Thoughts
The writer J.D. Salinger's character of Seymour reflected the author's own interest in the study of the ancient Indian texts known as the Vedas. Like Salinger, Seymour was a seeker, struggling to find meaning in a cruel and hostile universe. Ultimately, for Salinger, the answer to the question of faith in a higher power was to be found in the way he choose to see the world: God was everywhere or nowhere; Life was either a meaningless ordeal or a sacred journey.
